The Brecon Beacons: Winter by Tim Davies 💫 #starfishclub #poem #poetry #Coffeeandachat @coffeeandachat1

THESE WHITE-BLUE CASTLES TOWER IN THE SKY
AND SUGARRED DIAMONDS GLITTER ON THE MASS
SO, SOME HAVE COME TO PLAY, AND SOME TO DIE
THE WISE ONES SHOW RESPECT ‘AS SHADOWS PASS’.

DECEPTIVE, MOUNTAINS, BLUE IN BEAUTY, COLD
AS WALKERS PAUSE TO SNAP AND TAKE IT IN.
AND PILGRIMS PASS, AND SURELY THEY ARE BOLD
WHO COME TO TEST, TO TRY, TO DARE – TO WIN!

THE SIBILANT, FLEETING SOUND AS BOOTS PASS BY
THE SUN’S CONCEALMENT OF THE THREAT OF DEATH
AND PUFFS OF WHISPY WHITE AGAINST THE SKY –
GIVE WITNESS TO THE MOUNTAIN’S WINTER BREATH

WHO DANCES WHITE-BLUE CASTLES IN THE AIR?
THE FOOTPRINT LEFT ON SNOW – A GAPING STAIN
SOON FADING SNOW WILL LEAVE NO RECORD THERE
BUT THOSE WHO PASSED WILL SURELY COME AGAIN.
