AND YOU AND I by Tim Davies #Coffeeandachat @coffeeandachat1 #StarfishClub #PoetryHub #Poetry #PoetryCommunity #WritingCommunity

AND DID WE LAUGH, IN THE DISTANT PAST?

DRUNK ON LIFE AND LOVE AND ALCOHOL

AND DID WE SING ALONG WITH TIMES IN TUNE

AND FROLIC IN THE WAVES OF LONG, HOT SUMMERS?

AND DID WE DANCE IN RHYTHMIC EXTACY OF YOUTH?

AND DID I EVER CARRY YOU, SO LIGHT, BACK HOME?

AND DID WE EVER SHARE THE POETRY AND PAINS OF LIFE?

AND DID WE HOLD EACH OTHER’S COMFORTS UNTIL THE MUSIC CAME AGAIN?

WHO WERE WE, SOARING HIGH TO HOT, SEDUCTIVE SUNS?

AND YOU AND I HAVE CHANGED AS SHADOWED SUMMERS COOLED.

ARE WE THOSE SAME COMPLACENT DREAMERS THAT WE WERE?

AND DO WE HOLD TIGHT, STILL, EACH OTHER’S COMFORTS UNTIL THE MUSIC COMES AGAIN?
