I LAID THESE SMOOTH AND GENTLE PEARLS AGAINST YOUR NECK IN LOVE

AND LOST MYSELF IN THOSE DARK EYES, THAT HIDE THE RISING SUN

AND DOTING PASSION – DANGEROUS – SUNG TO THE SKIES ABOVE

MY ‘GREENSLEEVES’ AND MY FAITHFUL BRIDE, NEW HOPE – NEW JOY BEGUN

YOUR STARK BETRAYAL BELIED LOVE, ADULTEROUS, UNTRUE

THE WITCH-WOMB LIE OF YOUR DECEIT DENIED TO ME A SON

A KING WHO CANNOT SIRE A KING HAS NOTHING TO ENDUE

BUT STANDS CUCKOLDED, SELF AND STATE, AND LOVE REMAINS THERE NONE

I CARE NOT IF THE TALES ARE TRUE, OF INCEST, LUST AND LORE

I WISH BUT TO BE FREE OF YOU, AND LOSE YOU AS MY WIFE

INVALIDATED IS THE LOVE I FELT FOR YOU BEFORE

IN FLESH I LOSE MY HOPES AND DREAMS, IN STEEL YOU LOSE YOUR LIFE

I SET THE ROUGH AND CRUEL WOOD AGAINST YOUR NECK IN HATE

FOR NEVER WOULD YOU BEAR A SON, A MIRROR-KING OF ME

AND THIS, WITHOUT TRUE FAULT OF YOURS, DEMANDS PURGATIVE FATE

FOR BY YOUR BLOOD, YOUR CALLOUS DEATH, I CUT THIS FAULT FROM ME
